I am pleased to announce that during 2019, we will be supporting the James Hopkins Trust as our chosen charity.

Founded in September 1989, the Trust works exclusively with severely disabled, life threatened and life limited children aged 0 to 5 in Gloucestershire, enriching their lives and supporting their family and friends.

They do this by primarily providing free nursing respite care, either in the children’s own homes or at their specialist centre at Kites Corner with its purpose built facilities including multi-sensory accommodation and beautiful gardens.

Here’s an idea of how the money raised is actually spent:

• £10 – pays for a child to enjoy an hour in a multi-sensory room
• £15 – pays for an hour’s nursing respite in the child’s own home
• £60 – pays for a 4 hour respite session for a child at Kites Corner
• £500 – pays for one child to have a 24 hour break and sleepover at Kites Corner

The Trust currently supports 90 families in Gloucestershire. To simply maintain those levels of care, the Trust needs some £1,700 a day. That’s a whopping £578,000 every year.

Every penny counts, so I sincerely hope you will help us in our fundraising efforts throughout 2019.
