When I joined TK Refrigeration back in 2003 never did I think that I would still be here 15 years later! My daughter was just a year old and I was looking for a part-time job as I was climbing the walls at home (I never wanted to be a stay at home Mum).

The job was advertised as part time, 10-12 hours a week and it was just a mile or so from home which was ideal. These days I am working much longer hours and sometimes it feels like I haven’t even been home (especially during this summer’s heatwave!).

I coined the phrase “Never a dull day at TK” fairly early on and this is so true. Every day is different and you never know what you are going to be faced with. It could be someone wanting a door seal for a 30 year old cold room or a customer in meltdown (quite literally) as their WI freezer has stopped working but whatever the issue we are here to try and fix it. It’s rather like A&E for refrigeration.

A large part of my job is to process the engineers’ worksheets which can be quite a challenge, as, a little like doctors, their writing isn’t always great and they can take some deciphering (if you have seen one I’m sure you will sympathise).

Overall, my list of duties is endless, from processing job sheets, ordering parts, raising invoices, preparing maintenance contracts and everything in between (I even make the tea occasionally) so the time just flies.

Here’s to the next 15 years – only joking!
